Exchange with Edina High School
On 27 March 2017, TKGS gave a wonderfully warm welcome to our American visitors from Edina High School Band, Minnesota. After introductions by student leaders and teachers, joint sectionals started in full swing.
It was a privilege seeing the way music has the unique ability to unite people from across the globe. It was great to see the students coming together with a common love for great music. The renditions of local and American pieces played by both bands showcased our strong ties of friendship.
The joint concert between Edina High School and TKGS Symphonic Band on the evening of 28 March at the Esplanade Concert Hall ended on a high note. The combined band performed Jan Van de Roost’s “Singapura Suite” and Karl King’s “Rough Riders” were specially chosen to represent the cultural identity of each country.On 27 March 2017, TKGS gave a wonderfully warm welcome to our American visitors from Edina High School Band, Minnesota. Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation
On 4th April 2017, TKGS Symphonic Band performed at the SYF Arts Presentation held at the Singapore Conference Hall. The band performed the set piece “Sunny Island” by local composer Wong Kah Chun, and “In the Persian Market” by Albert William Ketelbey.
It was the first performance for the Sec 2 members. Despite the nervousness, the band played well and was awarded the Certificate of Distinction. Once again, TKGS Symphonic Band continues to uphold their track record of excellence in music! Well done!
